When child custody and child support battles break out between parents, they can quickly become ugly.  That’s not abnormal in any way, nor is the possibility that one of the parties will not be present for a proceeding relating to either of these issues.  However, when that occurs the party that is not present in court will likely pay the price when a decision is made.  Unfortunately for famous MMA fighter Chuck Liddell, that is apparently what occurred recently with his ongoing child support and custody battle.

According to several reports, this issue arose because of a custody battle that was raging between Liddell and his ex-girlfriend.  The two had been working against each other to obtain custody of their 12-year-old son, and a hearing was scheduled recently to deal with this and other unresolved controversies.  However, Liddell did not show up for the hearing, and as a result the judge presiding over the matter ordered him to begin paying $6,000.00 per month in child support.

In addition, Liddell was also fined $2,500.00 for failing to provide financial disclosure documents that the court had requested.  Liddell’s attorney claimed that his client was not provided with proper notice of the hearing, which is why he was not present for the matter.  Not surprisingly, the attorney for his ex-girlfriend denied this contention.
