For many years, researchers around the world have been studying the troubling issue of domestic violence and how it affects the people involved, particularly those who are on the receiving end of this type of abuse.  Recently, researchers in Australia conducted a thorough study on how domestic violence affects people in the workplace in that country, and the results are such that the world at large may take notice and consider possibilities in terms of how to handle these situations.

Specifically, the Australian study asked respondents to answer the question of whether or not they had been the victims of domestic violence within the past year, and of those who responded that they had been subjected to this conduct, approximately half of them admitted that this abuse seriously impacted their ability to work productively.  The specific types of problems that workers in this position encountered included being late for work, being overly tired and being afraid of answering the phone or opening their emails because of the fear of more abusive conduct or threats.

Overall, an estimate that was included with the study’s results indicated that nearly $500 million was lost in overall economic activity because of employees who suffer from domestic abuse, and many consider this estimate to be extremely conservative.  One of the most basic fears that those who had been abused encountered was the fear of losing their jobs because of substandard performance.

While the study discussed above was conducted in Australia, it could clearly be equated with the issues of domestic violence that occur in the United States.  Men and women who are subjected to this abuse tend to react in similar ways and many of the cycles of abuse and threats are also similar regardless of where in the world it occurs.

If you have been suffering through a cycle of abuse that is never going to end, you need to take that courageous first step towards bringing about an end to this unacceptable conduct.  Seek the help of San Diego domestic violence lawyers who have helped many people put this suffering behind them.  Contact the law office of James D.
