For many years, academics and other professional researchers have been taking a close look at the institution of marriage from seemingly every angle and perspective imaginable.  One of the most recent studies that was recently completed has shed light on the general income levels of those who have chosen to get married in the United States in recent decades, and the results have been met with a degree of surprise.

Specifically, the Brookings Institute recently completed what is known as its Hamilton Project, and this project tracked the income levels of people in the United States who got married between the years of 1970 and 2011.  The study found that the higher the level of income that both men and women generated, the more likely they were to get married.  In addition, the study found that men in particular who did not generate a high level of income were the least likely to get married in the United States during the years that were included in this study.

Experts have responded to the findings regarding this study with several different thoughts, reactions and theories.  Clearly, the ever-growing presence of women in the American workforce during this time has led to a rise in the relative income of women as individuals overall.  In addition, the spike in unemployment in recent years has led to more people not earning any income and therefore not getting married as a result.

What this study would also indicate is that more and more people who generate a high level of income are likely to encounter the prospect of a divorce.  When people who have accumulated assets that are of a high worth face this situation, it can lead to serious complications and antagonistic battles when it comes to issues such as property division and different types of support.

If you are of a high net worth and you are facing the possibility of ending your marriage, you need to obtain the help of San Diego high asset divorce lawyers who have helped many clients through this difficult process.  Contact the law office of James D.
