While it’s rare for anything that occurs in another country to affect the way that divorce cases are handled in the United States or in California, it is worth noting that some decisions that are made abroad should be watched carefully to see how the system of divorce laws develops in response. The latest issue to arise comes from England, where a court last year ruled that documents that were obtained secretly by one spouse in a divorce proceeding could not be used to prove that assets were being hidden.

For centuries, people have been trying to formulate theories that explain why divorces occur. While many theories have been put forth, few have ever completely taken hold and been accepted as fact. Generally, it’s simply believed that some people are meant to be together forever and others tend to grow apart, usually for their own reasons. However, certain types of differences are being uncovered, and one that’s recently been revealed is the divorce rate for people who have college degrees.

Everyone understands that recent years have not been kind to workers in the United States. Millions of jobs have been lost by employees in nearly every field, and the effects of these job losses are always felt most directly by the families who suddenly must do their best without at least one income. Unfortunately, the loss of a job by a husband in a marriage apparently leads to a higher likelihood of other results, including a divorce, according to a recently published study.
